Juan Quezada developed what is now called the "Quezada style" of pottery, a time consuming process of painting exact mirror images on opposite sides of the vessel in two to six quadrants. S-curved lines and other design elements swing across the entire vessel from rim to underside. Occasionally Juan crisscrosses these outlined band of curved lines with hatches, circles and dots. But such treatment is sparse, as Juan does not like his designs to appear cluttered or busy. He leaves open, negative space that becomes an integral part of the overall design. The "Quezada Style" typically creates a feeling of dynamism. When viewed from directly above or below, the design often resembles a balanced pinwheel of a number of equally spaced sections, twirling on a pivot. when this designs are represented two dimensionally on paper, they appear as galaxies spiraling outward into space.
